Information coming soon!

Course Objectives:

Understand the current recommendations for birth prep to avoid MSK and pelvic floor injury. Be able to guide clients on birth positions, pushing, and pain management options.

Your Instructor:

Melissa practiced in orthopedics and sports rehab in Colorado, where she recognized a lack of resources for people suffering from pelvic issues. She became passionate about helping to change this, and went on to study and train in pelvic and obstetric PT with the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and the American Physical Therapy Association before moving to New York, where she worked extensively in pelvic rehab at Beyond Basics Physical Therapy in Manhattan before establishing her private practice in Brooklyn. She later moved back to Texas to be near family and friends. Melissa currently specializes in physical therapy for adult pelvic health. She is one of less than 180 practitioners to have the Certificate of Achievement in Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Therapy from the American Physical Therapy Association, which indicates comprehension in care for the perinatal population, including high risk pregnancies and the pregnant athlete. She is also in the first graduating class of international PECOS Program certified practitioners, providing support and therapeutic services during pre-conception, pregnancy, and early childhood for the prevention of chronic disease and optimization of human development.
