ABOUT THE COURSE

This workshop will be taught by pelvic Physical Therapist, Jeanice Mitchell, PT, MPT, WCS, BCB-PMD. This will be a 1-1.5 hour live zoom class and includes a live Q and A at the end. We will also reserve 20 minutes of the class to actually go through a sample pelvic floor muscle training program together! This will be recorded in the event you are not able to join live or would like to review the workshop later. 50% of all proceeds from this workshop will be donated to help improve maternal healthcare in India.

Objectives:

Understand the different types of tears and what structures are involved. Learn how the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor muscles is affected by perineal tearing. Review the new ACSHQC Clinical Care Standards on the 3rd and 4th degree tear prevention. Review the risk factors for perineal tears. Research overview for PFMT and perineal massage Identify and practice 3 pelvic floor muscle training strategies to reduce the risk of perineal tearing. Identify and practice 3 techniques for perineal massage during pregnancy. Introduction to Pelvic PT for rehab for perineal tears.

Your Instructor:

Jeanice is a licensed physical therapist, president of Integrity Rehab, and administrator of Integrity Home Health. She graduated from Loma Linda University with her Bachelor of Life Sciences and Master of Physical Therapy degrees. Practicing since 1995, Jeanice has worked in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient orthopedic/neurologic rehab, acute rehab facilities, skilled nursing facilities, home health, long-term care, and sports medicine clinics. Jeanice's area of expertise is pelvic-floor rehab for men, women, and children. She has received biofeedback certification for pelvic muscle dysfunction (PMDB) via the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America. Jeanice has a Certificate of Skills Completion in PF1, PF2A, PF2B and PF3 from the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She is working on earning her Pelvic Therapy Practitioner Certification via Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute. Jeanice is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), American Urogynecological Society, Endometriosis Association, International Pelvic Pain Society, Interstitial Cystitis Association, National Association for Continence, National Vulvodynia Association, The Women's Sexual Health Foundation and APTA's Women's Health Section.
